Entogenex Industries Sdn Bhd’s Mosquito Control Solutions Penetrating The American Continent To Help Control Zika-Carrying Mosquitoes

As the Zika threat looms in the American continent, EntoGenex Industries Sdn Bhd (EntoGenex), a Malaysian biotechnology company, has penetrated the Suriname market with its bio-larvicide products.

Entogenex has partnered with Suriname’s BOSROKO Group of Companies to distribute MOUSTICIDE, a super bio-larvicide that stops digestion process, punctures the gut and kills 100% of mosquito larvae within 2 hours. The company is receiving orders from customers in the region to protect themselves against the Aedes mosquitoes that carry the zika virus.

This is a major stepping stone for the company to penetrate the Latin American market. The World Bank estimated that zika will cost Latin America US$3.5 billion in the year 2016, as they announced a $150 million support for vector surveillance and control in Latin America and the Caribbean.

According to Jason Hoefdraad, the founder of BOSROKO, “Since we went public [on MOUSTICIDE] recently we have great and good responses from the community. We had customers visiting our office for more information and to pre-order the product [to protect themselves from mosquitoes].”

He also added that his company is receiving interest for MOUSTICIDE from countries such as St Lucia, Guyana, Trinidad and French Guiana.

The American CDC currently advises the public to practice enhanced precautions when travelling to Suriname due to the Zika outbreak. Suriname was one of the first countries that reported local transmission of the disease.

Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja’afar, Executive Chairman of EntoGenex said, “I am proud that a small Malaysian company is beginning to make an impact on the world stage. Unlike chemical based insecticides and larvicides, mosquitoes will not develop resistance towards the natural active ingredients of MOUSTICIDE. This will ensure a significant impact on the mosquito population, and will reduce the risk of contracting these mosquito-borne diseases, such as zika and dengue.”

This breakthrough comes on the back of EntoGenex’ effort to enter the South American market. EntoGenex has previously partnered with Brazil’s Biolotus Biotech, a Brazilian company to export its solutions into the country. Other than that, EntoGenex has also held meetings with South American ambassadors from Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina to discuss routes to export the company’s solutions into those respective countries.

EntoGenex has also recently hosted “the godfather of biodiversity” Dr Thomas Lovejoy, to present the company’s solutions and successes during the Komuniti Bebas Denggi program. Dr Lovejoy visited Malaysia recently in his capacity as the United States Science Envoy. As a result of this meeting, EntoGenex will be heading to the United States in late August to explore further the route to bring EntoGenex’ products into the country.

“Global cooperation to control the population of mosquitoes is extremely important,” Tunku Naquiyuddin said. He added, “EntoGenex has to play a big role to help the world fight these terrible diseases. We cannot afford to be complacent. With our technology, and cooperation from global stakeholders, we will all be triumphant against zika, dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.”
